50 Years of Luther Arkwright at the Cartoon Museum
by Tony Keen 17-Jun-22
The Cartoon Museum’s exhibition on Luther Arkwright opened on 14 June, and runs until 2 October.
The Cartoon Museum in London has just opened a new exhibition, ‘Bryan Talbot’s Luther Arkwright: 50 years of a British comics legend’. Yes, we and the Cartoon Museum know that it’s actually only forty-six years since Talbot’s Moorcockian hero debuted in ‘The Papist Affair’; but this exhibition coincides with the release of a new and final Arkwright volume, The Legend of Luther Arkwright. We’ll be reviewing Legend in due course, but if you’re in London, the exhibition is on until 2 October. And if you go before 10 July, you can also catch the ‘Love Stories’ exhibition, in which four comics artists—Ros Asquith, Dominique Duong, Dave Gibbons, and David Shenton—talk about examples of their comics that deal with love and romance. (If you want to know what FA editor Tony Keen thinks of the exhibition, look out for a review in a forthcoming issue of the science-fiction journal Foundation.)
