Peter David Afflicted With Stroke; Family Asks For Help
by Will Morgan 17-Jan-13
Acclaimed writer Peter David’s family tells well-wishers how they can help in a medical crisis.
Peter David, currently writing Marvel’s X-Factor, and well-known for his work on Young Justice, Supergirl and The Incredible Hulk, among many other comics and novels, suffered a stroke on December 31 2012, while on holiday.
Although he has already recovered to a remarkable degree from his initial right-sided paralysis, and has returned to editing his previously prepared X-Factor scripts, he faces, at best, a lengthy recovery and a gruelling and protracted regime of rehabilitation.
Despite possessing health insurance, this care plan promises to be a heavy financial burden on the David family.
David’s wife Kathleen has stated that although purchasing any of David’s numerous novels or graphic novels will ultimately help meet his medical bills, the royalty system for payments are in most cases extremely slow and unwieldy.
She stated that if people wanted to help, the best way would be to buy David’s creator-owned work from Crazy 8 Press – all available on Amazon and other sites – which would put the most money, in the quickest way, into the family’s hands.
The five novels – The Camelot Papers, Pulling Up Stakes, Pulling Up Stakes 2, The Heights of the Depths and The Darkness of the Light – are available both as e-books and print versions, and while purchasing all five in e-book format, as of today’s date, doesn’t cost a lot of money – just over £11 or around $17 US – it would proportionately be the greatest help to the family over any other purchase of his works.
If you’ve ever enjoyed any of Peter David’s work or even if you haven’t, but would just like to do a good thing – a little shopping would go a long way to aid him and his family in this time of crisis.
