Ms. Marvel wins Hugo Award
by Tony Keen 23-Aug-15
Ms. Marvel deservedly honoured.
Science Fiction’s prestigious Hugo Awards were announce overnight. This year, the awards have been mired in controversy, but one award relatively free from that was the Best Graphic story award, which went to the first collection of Ms. Marvel, No Normal, beating out Saga, Rat Queens and Sex Criminals. Here at FA we’ve long been admirers of this series, and are delighted for writer G. Willow Wilson, artist Adrian Alphona and editor Sana Amanat. (For some reason, the Hugos have also insisted on crediting Jake Wyatt, whose artwork is actually in volume 2 of the collections, Generation Why.) We hope that the series continues to be a massive success when relaunched after Secret Wars.
In the award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form, Guardians of the Galaxy beat Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
