To contrast with Tony Keen’s article on how to write Batgirl, “Scenes From The Sex Wars” gives us a little hint of how maybe not to portray her… Perhaps not the most tasteful depiction of a swinging superhero …
So, when in our favourite comics shop, 30th Century (of course), I decided to pick up the first collected volume of the Gail Simone Batgirl. After all, I’ve always been a fan of Babs, and the series had received a lot of good critical reports. And yes, it’s a perfectly fine bit of modern superhero antics. But one of the images struck me. We are slowly introduced to Batgirl, and then finally see her fully in the light …
… and get a nice open crotch shot. Oh dear. One step forward, one step back. Thanks, Ardian Syaf.
