GOT WOOD?
Will Morgan 25-Oct-13
We boggle our minds at a TV studio’s 1962 official publicity still, as used on a Dell comic tie-in… Seriously, dozens of people must have looked at this photo – and all of them thought: “Nothing dodgy about that!”?
Issue 10 of Dell Comics’ tie-in with TV show Rifleman shows that 1962 truly was a more innocent year.
Bear in mind; the multitudinous photo-covers on Dell’s (and allied company Gold Key’s) television and movie spin-offs were all officially sanctioned publicity stills, authorised by the film or TV production company in question.
So not only the actors themselves, but the photographers, publicity and press departments, and an unknown number of studio executives must have looked at this – and each and every one of them thought; “That’s a good idea!”?

Ah, but could this be why this issue was NOT approved by the Comics Code ???
